The research was conducted on university students in order to determine childhood traumas, life satisfaction, emotional eating relationship and some factors affecting them. The population of the research was composed of 21889 students studying at a state university in the west, and the sample was made up of 453 students. The data were collected using the Sociodemographic Characteristics Questionnaire, the Childhood Traumas Scale (CTQ), the Adult Life Satisfaction Scale (ALSS) and the Emotional Eating Scale (EES). Descriptive statistics, Mann Whitney U, analysis of Variance (ANOVA) for measurements with normal distribution in comparisons of more than two independent groups, Kruskal Wallis analysis for those without normal distribution were applied while evaluating the data. The significance level was taken as p<0.05. When the distribution of students according to demographic characteristics was examined, it was determined that 62.72% of them were women and their age average was 20.69±1.80. The average CTQ score of the students was found to be 81.75±7.51, the average ALSS score was 75.26±12.45 and the average EES score was 21.48±6.21. There was a positive moderate level relationship between the Childhood Trauma Scale score and the Adult Life Satisfaction scale score (r=0.492, p= 0.000), a negative low level relationship between the Adult Life Satisfaction Scale score and the Emotional Eating Scale score (r=-0.139, p= 0.003), and it was found that there was no relationship between the Childhood Trauma Scale score and the Emotional Eating Scale score (p>0.05). Life satisfaction increases as childhood traumas increase in university students, and emotional eating behavior increases as life satisfaction decreases. No relationship has been found between childhood traumas and emotional eating behavior. It is recommended to hold information meetings to help students recognize the psychological effects of childhood traumas on them with counseling services.
